Turkish Pide bread

We serve it still a bit warm with a dip and other little nibbles. I would like to try this recipe and bake it with a filling like mushrooms and red peppers if I do I will let you know how it went. Almond Chocolate ring cake
I felt like baking today and decided to do this simple moorish cake. It is one of those recipes which I have scribbled on a piece of paper, you leave between pages of a cookbook sure you will not forget where you put it, but of course you do, then you remember the recipe and look for it everywhere and it is not to be found. The other day looking through my old german baking book I found this recipe again, so here it is. Read more…
Rhubarb meringue cake
This is a german classic every café or bakery would sell this cake. Depends on the time of the year the topping could also be made with red currents which is actually my favourite. It is not very often we get those red currants here in summer, if we do, it is only for a very short time. I used frozen cranberries before it worked well but if you do use frozen berries roll them in flour before adding to the topping.
Berry and Lemon curd tartlets
We still have lots of lemons so there will be more lemon recipes as we go along. It is always handy to have some of those little pre made short crust pastry shells in the freezer these are made with desiccated coconut added, ready to be filled with lemon curd or custard and topped with any berries of your choice. Those I made today are ideal for finger food. Read more…
Pumpkin and walnut bread

Apple cake with bee sting topping
On a sunday in Germany it was custom for our parents to have coffee and cake in the afternoon, often there would be visitors a time to catch up and having a rest. I bake that cake for years, it is easy and quick. The last time I made that cake we managed to eat the whole cake between the two of us in two days. We serve the cake without whipped cream or ice cream.
Russian Tea Cakes (Shortbread)
Those shortbreads remind me very much of Vanilla Kipferl one of my favourites at Christmas time or Kourabiethes the greek almond shortbread. Here we have three names and three countries for the same biscuit what makes them different is the look one is round, the other two are crescent shaped. They are easy and quick to make once you start eating you will not stop at one. Read more…
